FWF {August 27}

Hello, friends! It's Savannah with some more Unity crafty goodness!! And it's Friday--which means....FRIENDS with FLAIR

Today I'm sharing some creations that I made using my "style". Here at  All Things Unity we are having a challenge where you create cards {using your Unity or Ippity stamps} based on your "style". Paper Crafts Magazine just published a magazine "Card Style: Find your style". I LOVE this mag! I found out that I'm mostly Fun/Cute....sometimes Clean/Graphic. This card was actually a card that won over on the Paper Crafts blog. It won the Fun/Cute category. I love this card--it was so fun to make. I used Unity's ledger stamp and the typewriter from Unity's Nov. KOTM. The sentiment was created on my computer. LOVE it!
If you look closely, I rolled paper up and pushed a brad through to hold it! SO FUN!

This next card was created for the Wee Memories {sweets and ribbon} and the Cupcake Inspiration {photo} challenge. I was inspired by a card seen on Jennifer McGuire's blog--another talented lady!!! I love this card--the apron and tag are stamps from Unity's Kitchen Logic set. I also stamped the cupcake from Unity's 6 pack essentials. The banner is from Ippity's Love In Return. The sentiment is from Unity's Super Sweet set. Love that you can combine different sets for a fun card!! This also fits in the Fun/Cute category!! I love it:} Those strings from the apron are so fun!! Love the glitter on that cupcake--almost looks real!!
Well...that's it for me today! If you would like to play along with All Things Unity's  Style Challenge go HERE for all the deets!! The challenge ends on Saturday, Sept. 4th at 11:59pm!! Players will be entered in a random drawing to win the Card Style magazine and a free Itty Bitty Unity stamp!! LOVE it!  Here are the five categories if you need help finding which one you fit in ::

1. Classy/Elegant- polished; shiny finish, sparkling embellishments, rich color scheme; sophisticated sentiment
2.
Shabby/Chic- layering; soft; utilizing ribbon, lace, inking and distressing; looks comfortable, worn
3.
Vintage- one step farther than Shabby/Chic--adds old images, found items, antique trinkets
4.
Clean/Graphic- white space, clean lines, and simple treatment of texts [bare minimums]
5.
Fun/Cute- happy color scheme, sweet sentiments; uncomplicated design; whimsy (cartoons or doodles); friendly patterns

Thanks so much for stopping by! Hope you will play along with us!! And be sure to stop by the Unity blog for a complete list of FWF creations! What a fantastic blog hop today!! LOVE Unity

Thanks again for stopping by! Love, Sav

Friends with Flair at All Things Unity

It's Andi here at the ATU blog playing along with Unity's Friend's with Flair blog hop. We are playing along here once again and this week I was the lucky lady behind the wheel. I had picked up recently some of the absolutely delicious Graphic 45 Halloween paper featuring Alice in Wonderland and this teapot paper demanded to be used asap! I found this amazing teapot and bird stamp along with the sentiment relax in my June 2009 KOTM (kit of the month). I have been getting them for 1.5 years now and have never skipped a month..even the months my budget told me I probably should have...ssshhhh....hubby is beside me on the couch and we don't need him hearing this tee hee!

If you are hopping along with FWF today you would have arrived from Jennie's blog. To continue on click here to go to Angie's blog. If you have a moment to leave a comment that would be awesome!

Hope you have a fabulous day! Andi xoxo

It’s That Time

And just in time for FWF.  We promised more tutorials.

And here’s another one.

Hope it’s all you’ve been waiting for.

I know there seem to be a lot of steps

But it’s really easy peasy

Just wanted everyone to get it!

(all images are clickable)

Supplies:

  • Line Drawing ImageSupplies
  • Background Stamp
  • Liquid Pearls – White Opal
  • Versafine (archival ink/waterproof ink)
  • Mini Mister
  • Small Paint Brush
  • Watercolor Paper
  • Acrylic Block
  • Distress Inks – Your Choice (I used Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, Bundled Sage, Old Paper)
    • Optional Supplies– Chipboard
    • Plastic Microscope Slide
    • Glossy Accents
    • Silk Cord
    • Silver Bail

  1. Step1Stamp your image using the archival ink on the watercolor paper backed with chipboard.
  2. Step2 It’s now time to prep your paint.  Take your acrylic block and press your 1st color of distress ink into it.
  3. Step3You should get a nice pool of color like so.
  4.  Step4 Once you’ve done this, you will then add a dot.  That’s right, just a small dot of Liquid Pearls.
  5. Step5Then take your Mini Mister and spritz the area with one spritz of one.  The more water you spray the less concentrated your color (or lighter) your color will be.
  6.  Step6 This is what it will look like with just the Liquid Pearls & the spritz of water.
  7. Step7Once you done Step 5 take your paint brush and mix up your color, Liquid Pearls & water, this will make up a paint like mixture.
  8.  Step8If you’re going to be doing just a small area of “painting” feel free to go ahead & mix up all of your colors.  Otherwise hold off because these will get dried up.
  9.  Step9 Here’s a sample of what it will look like once you get started.
  10. Step10And once you get done “painting” with all three colors.  I used Rusty Hinge, Wild Honey, Bundled Sage
  11. Step11The rest of the steps is really where it gets quite optional.  Ink up a background (I used Old Paper).  Since it is quite a bit larger, especially in my case, I just inked up an area I knew was large enough to cover my project.  When you do choose to do this, it has a tendency to be forgiving of any leaking on the watercolor paper.  Making it look even more artistic.
  12.  Step12 I then put it on top of the stamp instead of putting the stamp on top of the project because then it could get “lost” in which it could mess it up.
  13. Step13This is what it should look like depending on your background
  14. Step14 You can then stamp a sentiment, which I choose love grows
  15. Step15Depending on how you choose to use your project.  I was doing these for MnT (Make n Takes), so they were pendants.  So I grabbed my glossy accents and used a couple of dots on the top and bottom of it and popped on a plastic slide mount.  I used plastic for a couple of reasons.  1)  They don’t break & 2) They wouldn’t be in any danger of cutting anyone
  16.   FinalTADA!! The finished project!!

Friends with Flair Friday!

Woohoo!! This is the first FWF I've done in a looooong time! I am so excited too, because I just got back from CHA!

I got to see the BEAUTIFUL Miss Angela (really Mrs.), big boss Chris, and so many of the other Fabulous Unity and Ippity peeps! They offered an incredible make and take tag and the line was always long for people waiting their turn to make it.

Got my creative juices flowing! But hey - just a sneaky clue here...I hope I don't get kicked off the team...hmmm. Maybe I shouldn't share this. Ok, I prefer to stay ON the team, so here's the project I have for you:

{click to enlarge}

I used My Minds Eye Quite Contrary line for this card, and Unity's July 2010 KOTM Happily Ever After, a couple nestabilities, a brand spankin' new die cut from Papertrey Ink using their gorgeous felt, tied to a button with custom colored ribbon (thanks Copic!).

My favorite season is Fall. I love that changes are coming, along with cooler weather. I love fall too, because there's that wonderful scurry to get everything done before winter comes in full bore, the anticipation of great holidays to spend with family and friends, and the FANTASTIC changing of colors!

What's your favorite part? Do you hate losing Summer with all her bounty and squishy fun? Chat about it! Next along the blog hop you go to...Wait..What's that I hear? Begging? You really think I should spill a secret clue? Sigh...roll eyes... well, OK. Just this one thing:

We have a challenge tomorrow, and you're going to have to switch your palette, maybe even your stamps out to complete it. And we have big things in store for this challenge! BIG things! You will WANT to be sure to play along! TEASE!

Ok - off now to visit Carisa at Guinevere's Inky Faeries for the next stop on the FWF hop! Keep your eyes peeled for that badge - you know the one. ;-)

Have a fantastic Friday!
